MYTHS ABOUT MARIJUANA
1. Marijuana Causes Cancer
Many have said that smoking pot and smoking cigarettes is the same thing and, therefore; marijuana must cause cancer, as well. Not only have countless independent studies disproved this, but some have actually found that marijuana decreased tumor growth by as much as 50%. (Sorry, cigarettes will still kill you.)
2. Marijuana Is Addictive
While prolonged use has shown to leave signs of dependence, marijuana does not actually contain a “nicotine-like” compound that causes it to be addictive. (This is similar to being “addicted” to soda.) There are little to no withdrawal symptoms, especially when compared to the withdrawal effects of drugs like cocaine or heroin – or even an alcohol-induced hangover.
3. Marijuana Is a Gateway Drug
Simply put, numerous studies have unequivocally disproved the idea that using marijuana leads to use of harder drugs. Marijuana has actually successfully been used to reduce hard drug users’ dependence on drugs. So, in reality, it is the exact opposite of a gateway drug.
4. Marijuana Causes Brain Damage
Another myth where the exact opposite thing is true: Not only have studied disproved the idea that marijuana damages your brain, they have found that it actually protects your brain from the damage that heavy drinking can cause.
5. Marijuana Has No Medical Uses
The government has often defended its marijuana policy by citing their own studies that say that marijuana does not have any therapeutic effects. Not true. Aside from the uses listed above, marijuana have been proven to have beneficial effects on people suffering from migraines, glaucoma, AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, epilepsy, stomach disorders, and dozens of other health problems.
And, most recently, even the American Medical Association called for the government to remove its restrictive Schedule 1 status.

:)

  5. Wow~ this week has been so packed! So much rushing, dancing, socializing, and sports! Discoverfest was a week ago and a fraternity called Beta Upsilon Delta, also known as BUDs(Brothers of the Underground Denomination), rushed me. After a full rush week of stuff, I have been persuaded to pledge for this fraternity. I would explain more, but I don’t want to risk breaking the tradition of not telling people :P Dang…this week was the first time I went clubbing at the Sevilla in Long Beach. It was a fun night, but would be a lot more fun if I knew more dance moves haha. I know some of my new years resolution now…learn how to hardstyle shuffle, jerk, and club dancing :) Must practice! My other new years resolution though was to make some friends that were a different ethnicity…especially blacks. I already completed this resolution though :) I have like four new black friends from my fraternity~ they are so cool too :D (Sorry for saying black~ its just saying “African American” gets tiresome xD) Time to experience some brotherhood lifestyle this year! Though my interview to get a bid for the frat is this monday…good luck to me :). Dang, besides practicing dance moves and all this frat stuff, basketball seems to be a great new hobby. Everyday basketball! Must get better! Tired of being such a crappy shooter in bball :( Just chilling at my apartment and then ronald calls me at midnight and goes “wanna bball?” xD too much fun! Hmmm…theres a new swimming event coming up this week…about 10 weeks to swim 21 miles. I must attempt this! I need support though :( Because I need to balance tennis, basketball, swimming, VSA, frat, and schoolwork >.< gonna be so tiringggg. Oh well, gotta get the best out of college :)

  8. 1/23 Saturday~Tuesday
Don’t mind the picture, I just took it from google XD. Ahh so many things to blog about~ shoulda did it when I could but I was busy with school :( Once again everyone, thanks for all the care and concern for me when I went MIA. I was so shocked when I was back and went onto facebook/back to Fullerton/El Monte. I really appreciate it all :) When something comes up for you guys, I want to return the same concern or even greater. Thank you! I would also appreciate it though if you guys stop asking me where I went though, I am back now and that is all that matters :).
Wednesday~Friday
After my 3 days of being MIA, I was in a rush to get all my classes back because this week was the first week of school and missing the first day would mean auto drop T-T So worried about losing them and being behind by a whole semester if it did drop. I was on a quest on Wednesday to talk to all my professors and they were nice enough to let me stay :) Now I got my 15 units in calc 150a, eng 101, bio 101, programming 121, SI workshop, and tennis! :D

1/30 Saturday
Weeeee 1-4am bowling at action lanes! Was trying to learn how to hook the whole time ~.~ but scores are improving at least haha. Beginning to average 80-90s now instead of 60 :o my goal is to reach like 120 average by the end of this semester! In addition to bowling, today was a good day of tennis practice :) I finally won my first singles game this year too! Still a ton of room for improvement though. I think i’ll stick to singles. Doubles is fun and all but I don’t like depending on a partner and being yelled at when I make a mistake haha. In singles, i can yell at myself and I am more active. Doubles I get lazy to move :\ Singles = constant movement and I love base lining ~ Damn I challenged Chow but he wont play me because hes too scared to lose! In the meanwhile, I’ll just challenge the current varsity tennis players at EMHS :) one by one~ if i lose, ill challenge them again!

  11. Damn today was a pretty nice day :O Finally made up with my friend Peter after so long. We just had a good catch up lunch and talked about what we’ve been doing ^^ After that, I got home and then my friend Doan called me to play tennis. I was looked outside and saw rain and asked ARE YOU CRAZY!? He said it wasn’t raining over at Emerson so I said okay and went to Emerson. Surprisingly, it wasn’t raining, but the courts were all wet :(. It was good hitting after so long though. The week-long rain prevented any tennis~ so I had a huge urge to play and played despite the balls getting ruined. After an hour of playing with wet courts, we decided to head home and play another day because the heavy balls (due to the absorption of the wet courts) were getting too hard and annoying to hit with. After that, I headed over to Andy’s house because I promised his sister and him that I would bring a dozen of donuts to eat + hang out one day and I did haha. After one hour of just listening to Andy’s music and stuff, I headed home and now here I am :\ just playing omgpop and texting ;_; Still waiting for next week to come already! So many new things next week :)

  12. Bonfire and Karaoke~

Mm tonight was a pretty interesting night :D The day did not go as I thought it would go, but in the end it still turned out pretty fun. First off, in the beginning of the day it was all just planning out who goes which driver to get to Huntington Beach, and I had to keep texting/calling people back and forth haha. When it came close to the time to depart from the meeting point, about 3-4 people bailed out :( oh well…family matters came up for them, family first right? Anyways I was planning to go with Hieu and Phong, and at about 5:30pm we went to Riverside first to pick up Kristine :O there was so much traffic…took about two hours to get there :( After two hours we just took our time to drive back to the other coast of California…Huntington Beach! In about another two hours, we finally reached the beach. Yes we reached the beach, everyone was there already, but the thing is, we got there at closing time. Everyone was packing up and getting ready to go karaoke already D: The bonfire part of the day did not go as well for our car group :\ but at least during the four hours of driving back and forth, Hieu, Phong, Kristine, and me bonded in the car ride *well not really Kristine, she was sleeping the whole time xD* Now after everyone packed up, we decided to drive back to El Monte to pick up Raymond and go to Happy KTV for some karaoke! We met up at the one in Lower Asuza and had a blast singing old school songs haha. Wish KTV had more modern songs…most of the songs were like 80s and 90s. After all that we just headed home/to Raymond’s house to chill :O well I went home first because its on the way there and I didn’t want anyone to drive to the other side of El Monte to drop me off. Today was a fun day, but it could have gone better. And dang…it makes me kinda sad how so many of my friends smoke now :( sucks when we’re all singing then like half the group goes outside to smoke -_- I won’t judge on the smoking but I just hate it when they leave during fun times for like ten minutes to go outside >_> oh well…I’ve tried motivating some of them to not do it. Guess I can’t control their will and addiction.
